Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 2.68 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 320. CONST-ANTINVS AVG Laureate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. VIRTV-S AVGG / P - R / R Q Campgate with almost closed doors and three turrets. RIC 176. A very nice example of a scarce type, struck on a large flan and with interesting details. Thin flan crack and the reverse a bit weak and with minor roughness, otherwise, about extremely fine.

The reverse shows that the gate, with its doors half open, was engraved before the letters were added.
